Summer Company Program

The Summer Company 2008 application process is now open. Applications are reviewed as they are received and there are a limited number of awards.

Applying for Summer Company is a competitive process. Space is limited and the program reaches capacity quickly - Apply early.

What is Summer Company?

The Summer Company program provides hands-on business training - together with financial support - to help enterprising young people start and run their own summer business.

If approved into the program you will receive:

An award of up to $1,500 at the beginning of the program, to help with business start-up expenses;
An award of up to $1,500 upon the successful completion of the program and return to school.
A minimum of 12 hours of business training; and
Support and advice on operating your business from a local business mentoring group.

Are You Eligible and how to apply

To apply for summer company, you must first answer an eligibility checklist. You will then be asked to fill in a short application. An automated confirmation email will be sent to the email address. You MUST confirm your interest and assign yourself a password. Please contact Marie Desjardins by email mdesjardins@ocri.ca or by phone (613) 560-6081 ext. 22704 if you do not receive this email.

PLEASE NOTE: You MUST have regular access to a computer with an Internet connection to apply for Summer Company.

You MUST prepare a business plan and complete a start-up cash flow statement. When you are ready to submit your application, log into the system using your email address and password and do the following:

Fill out the Start-Up Budget and Cash Flow Calculator
Attach your business plan and related documents
Complete the application
Submit your application.

When will you hear about the status of your application?

You will be contacted by telephone, mail or email within two weeks of receiving your submitted online application, which includes a cash flow forecast and business plan.
